If we had won the lottery, we would have put our three grandchildren through college and helped our two kids pay off their mortgages. We would have also been freed up to build the new house we’ve been dreaming about and do some traveling (back to Austria, which I loved when I was first there, and a trip to the Grand Canyon). Past that, our wealth is not in money, but rather in relationships and in the beauty of the natural world. Oh, one thing I forgot: I would be able to pay my yearly out-of-pocket prescription costs of $3,000 without stress. I would make regular donations to my favorite and near-to-my-heart charity, the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan. I might even replace my beloved 105 year-old grand piano. And I might buy my brother a piano, too. Oh, this is getting to be too much fun. Back to reality…we didn’t win, and, as my husband said this morning, “I still have to go to work Monday morning.”
Those blueberries look a lot more appetizing than a certain somebody’s “Potatoes in Art” or vice-versa. What do you have to say to that, you Rambling Poet?
