What Can I Do?

It takes so little effort to amend
an argument, or straighten out the bend
a road oft takes. Forgive the careless word
that flits around you like a little bird.

Please realize that this might be the hour
you leave the earth, so sniff the red rose flower
and praise the trees that stand there mighty, tall.
The spring, the summer, winter, and the fall

have given you a panoramic view,
provided excellence, each season new
in character and dress. You leave the seed
within your words, plant wisdom others read.

  1. Fabulous and a very sobering though too! This seems so deep yet so fluid – I love the line ‘Forgive the careless word
that flits around you like a little bird.’
    beautiful :)

  2. Thought provoking. Puts everything into perspective.

  3. Really nice! I love poetry and I’m thinking more and more about how to be positive, how to be authentic. I like how you’ve combined those things into a poem. Is your 20 lines a day, for poetry or any kind of writing? I’m working on a book right now about my solo pilgrimage in Italy. Hope you can visit my blog!
