I read my old love poems,
the other day,
they made me look desperate,
in a cloying kind of way.
What was I thinking,
when I wrote those?
Possessive and needy,
I cringe to my toes.
I really did love you,
of that there’s no doubt,
but it seems quite absurd,
now, the way it came out.
Although I look back,
I was only a child,
I think that I thought,
I was dangerous and wild!

You were pure, loving with your heart and not your mind. As we get older we lose so much of loves purity; fearing the worse as oppose to beliving in the best!!!! Im sure your young writings can remind you of a time when it was okay to have faith!!!!

Thank you – that is true and really kind – I had a tough time when I was young, and I think I was pretty bonkers!
I’m still mad – but I’m aware that I am, and I am now much wiser!!
:D

I experience the same when reading love poems I’d written in the past. I feel embarrassed but then realize how much I’ve grown. :) I do love your writing.

Thank you so much – All of my childhood scribblings, journals etc I burned them – they came across like the diary of a madwoman!!!
Hopefully my current endeavors are a little more rational and controlled!!!

Lovely & sweet thoughts when looking back. I was just thinking earlier this week about sharing some of mine from my teen years. Silly & sincere….that they were! Great post! ♥
