The Wall

You stand there erect

So tall and large you loom above it all

Quiet and steady stone by stone you were placed with care

When did your beauty turn to such beaten and worn out wear?

I see your cracks tiny imperfections that are inconsistent specks upon your strength

There are some who would like to break you down

Tear away your foundation and watch you crumble to the ground

But me, I respect you for who you are

I’ve been there before and I know that it takes courage to stand in the face of opposition and doubt

I see your determination in the rigidness of your stance

I admire your character and I know that when I return again

I will find you still in place

About these ads

Author: poetrymyvoice

My faith and family are key in my life. I am blessed with a great husband, and I have four wonderful children. I am an educator, and I enjoy the excitement of helping our youth find their own voice and creativity. Writing is one of the main outlets I use to express all that I feel and think. Poetry is my favorite form of literature. I also am currently working on my first novel series. Words to me are the most powerful form of communication in the world!
