A Shoe Full of Sardines…or Something Like That

There was an old woman who lived in a shoe…

No wait, not a shoe, but a can of sardines.

Smelly, oily, yucky sardines

Everyone who came around thought

Twas the woman who stunk

So they plugged their noses and shouted P.U.!

Then threw her away like an old smelly shoe…

No wait, not a shoe, but a smelly sardine.

But it wasn’t the woman who stunk, oh no

They figured that out, when away she did go.

With a smile on her face and a spring in her step

But if you looked closely, so clearly you’d see

The tears that were glistening…

No wait…not glistening but streaming

If you could read her thoughts you’d know

Her heart was breaking, she had loved them so

But life goes on, or so it is said

And in many books, that’s what I have read.

But how I wish it wasn’t so…

That sardines stink.
