Writing in Hindi… Translating in English…

Today I wrote this small poem in Hindi. Well, I know many of you won’t be able to understand it. So- here is the somewhat English translation of the poem,

I have a desire after losing something today,

But what, that is what I am yet to know,

There is that desire for something that I want to achieve,

There is something I really want to achieve,

The only thing left to do is to know what it is,

I need to know, so that I can analyze,

Whether I will be able to achieve it or not,

May be analyzing that would help me realize

Whether I really want to achieve that something or not.

A blogger… hmmm No! A writer…. hmmm maybe! An absurd person.. hmmm(hey that might be right)! But above all this, I am a person…a being… My gender, my nationality, my skin color, my language, my looks.. these things can’t define me.. because I DEFINE MYSELF and I can’t explain it.. In order to know me or rather know bout’ me…you have to be my companion and read and share along with me. Don’t read but view and don’t see but think.. that is all you need to do. thats what i think as per now… i wud try to tell more bout me with the passage of time.

  1. This is wonderful. Thank you SO much.

  2. You’ll find it. And when you do, you’ll achieve it, Howie.

  3. Lovely, and thank you for the translation or as you say, we couldn’t understand it. But it looks so beautiful in Hindi, the translation looks clumsy by comparison. Hope you find your heart’s desire.

    • Yes, I felt the same. It is quite difficult to express something in the very same way in different mediums. I tried translating it somehow but yes, it did come out to be a little bizarre- I agree.
And thank you for your kind comment. I am starting to feel that I must try writing more in Hindi, the language surrounding me, though, English will always be my first choice when it comes to expressing my views, expressing myself in the way of a writing exercise.
      Love,
