I’d like to be a butterfly
Though swiftly their lives do go by
But while they live, they bring a smile
To all who see their carefree style
So beautiful they are, you know
While they do flutter to and fro
And every one does still awake
The child within, make no mistake
If only I could live that way
As if my last day was today
To simply be, until I’m not
To make the most of what I’ve got
Alas, I’m not a butterfly
And sometimes human tears I cry
I’m selfish sometimes, yes it’s true
When circumstances make me blue
But God has made me with a plan
Though I don’t always understand
So I’ll just smile and give a sigh
Whene’er I see a butterfly

Thank you. :) I thought of looking for a nice picture to go with it, but the rules on 20 Lines a Day were changed awhile back so that we can only post pictures that belong to us now, and I understand that. But I didn’t have any butterfly pics. :)

Hi, again. Just a note to let you know that I wrote a children’s book about a butterfly. I’m a retired teacher and encourage milkweed to grow in my garden to provide some Monarchhabitat that is disappearing rapidly. My photo is a little dull, but the Monarch was exquisite — just like a stained glass ornament. Had dozens of them this year. However, by the time I got my camera out, they were fluttering off in search of their dreams… So glad you shared your poem! Bette

Thank you Tommy! I haven’t been here in such a long time I couldn’t even remember my password…had to reset it with a new one. :) Ugh…I have a bunch of comments waiting though and not sure how long it would take me to catch up. They’re not all as nice as yours either. :) But that’s okay.
