Cold.
Once again neglecting
to stoke
the embers
of the fire
within.
Huddled
on the stone hearth,
warmed
by wood’s surrender
I gaze into
the fiery heart
awaiting the confession
of the secret
of flame.
Darkness steals in.
The long night
of winter
cloaks the promise
of spring.
