JT Loves Winter Me Not so Much

Originally posted on Living and Lovin:

You already know that if you are a friend and follower.  I wanted to do a post as this year comes to an end.  Yes not a Re-Blog though I love sharing cool stuff  others spend the time to add to WordPress.

So this one will be of a Happy Dog.  You see when the weather is warm you will never see her do this the flying disc will get all the play time but let a few inches of snow fall and you knows right where she has tucked her winter toy away.  I have told you she is smart a time or two right.

Here is a series I shot of her and her winter toy.  I kick then snap photo, this time with a bulky Nikon not as easy to capture her as I did with my Kodak so excuse the faults in the photos and just…

We went for a ride up into Maine yesterday.

Originally posted on Living and Lovin:

The day started rainy and socked in with think fog here in New England yesterday,  while so many suffered in horrible cold and snowy conditions.  We will take what we can left of this year, before we too must huddle together and keep ourselves warm.

A few years ago I took a class with Mom on fusing glass with a wonderful teacher who has since passed away.  She had told us about a woman in Maine who taught wire wrapping,  so we could make our pieces we did,  look even nicer and go from glass into jewelry pieces. Well that winter we went out to Arizona  to hunt for Gold and I met a woman there who took the time to show me a simple wrap that as I got more proficient I could add my own flair to.  Well yesterday the woman in Maine, who I follow through Facebook, had an Open…

RUST

100_4911

On a cold day here in New England

The shoreline still calls out to us

Our trips here are usually never planned

We just know we must get out or sit at home and rust

JT is always ready for our trips to the shore

We never  have to tell her that is where we are going

She sees him get the metal detector out  and she goes right to the door

On this day she was sad no Frisbee with the way the winds were blowing

He swung his machine over the sand

He left a path of places he had dug and filled back in

Nothing ever seems to go as planned

With him though it usually ends with a grin

His collecting apron has many treasures within

Pull tabs, copper wire and piping and so many coins and rings

Want to know the reason for the grin

Well he is always happy when finding THINGS

So on a cold day with nasty raw winds gusting

JT and I walk into the wind defiant to let it ruin our day

I remind myself we could have been home rusting

So glad we went it was such a pretty day given the fact we stayed

Quaint little New Hampshire town.

Brick buildings downtown all of which are occupied, not bad in this economy.

Ron dropped us off so we could walk and I could capture some images with JT

while he went to scrap some GOLD!

It was a cold New England day but with sun shining it was simply gorgeous!

We have had some really bad floods in our area.

I should  have shot video as the water was flowing under the ice

it was awesome to watch.

Huge ice was breaking apart

Freezing to brush, small trees and others moving with the flow of the river.

I Love the color combo on this home.  In New England we have areas

where only colors from the Colonial Days can be used on homes  in the

Historical Districts.

“Beach Art” By JT

100_4424

I know you have probably seen the shells that sit along the high tide mark but do you know about Border Collie Art?

She is so well-bred that she leaves an amazing piece of artwork, all along the beach,  as we make or way onto it

for a game of Frisbee.

Can you see her moves up above?

On and on she goes

Round and Round

Catching it

Dropping it at my feet and heading back out for another loop to get ready to catch it again.

I know some of you may tire of my talk about this pup but she really is what keeps us smiling day in and day out pain and all.

She is a beautiful artist,  well at least in our eyes.

Other dogs just come to PLAY she seems to have a method to her madness as do I.

Her daddy is hunting for treasure in this B&W  photo also showing her design all along the sea.

JT’s Adventures ……part one

JT Close-up

Well by now most of you know our JT (Jess-Tex) at least in photos.  She is our Border Collie and no we do not have a farm.

I have shared my life with fourteen dogs five of which were part of a litter that went on to new homes where they were adored family members.

This dog above was born at a friend’s home,  the male  her father was from Texas and they drove from Vermont to pick him up.  JT’s mother was a dog that was dropped off at their place in Vermont.  Gorgeous lighter Gray with white.  She was scared who knows the kind of life had she lead.

JT was like the runt with a not so perfect face marking and it was just her sister and her no one had chosen to be theirs.

Now I wanted no more dogs but here were the two prettiest…

Big dog right?

Loved as you can see.

This dog loves to play but on this day in the pouring rain, where I had entered JT into two rounds of Disc Dog play,  this Great Dane had spent the day either taking cover in the back of his owners posh van.  Then he popped out to check out the action on the field.

I love BIG DOGS

Not so much the small barking ones,  well I love ALL DOGS but not for ME.   I love happy dogs that are quiet.  JT does bark like a dog should danger appear in our yard,  in the form of an animal posing danger NOT THE TURKEYS  and BIRDS, but any human even if she knows then will receive a bark,  one barks says Hello I know you and the other Mom you…

Laid To Rest Up On The Hill

100_5248

This is a historic area up in Vermont

They discovered  Gold in the river below this hill

I wonder if there are any dead miners who are still around to haunt

The day we were here everything was so still

It was a hot day so into the river we went

He had his pan to search for Gold

I had JT with me and into the water she went

I just put my feet in even though the day was HOT the water was COLD

So as I sat at the stream I thought of the dead up on the hill

Why did they get buried so far up there upon the hill

I will have to check this place out a little more

Not just because of the Gold he scored

Has there been horrible flooding here

You can see this is a very tall hill

A very old place like this is so dear

So should you find yourself  here stop at the top if you will

Fact Finding Walk

100_3017

Well we headed out on a mission

JT was excited to get going

She stood still as I got her collar on, as well  as her Red scarf

We told her to go out to the truck and she sat beside her door

It is just a 10 minute ride  and I could not wait to go see what the lake

looked like

Yes it was in the yard as it always is at draw down.   I am so tired of

losing the land I pay so much for in taxes , as well as all the work I do to make the lower area

just as pretty as the upper yard

So today JT  and I set out on a mission and you will see lots of photos in days to come

I will post most on Living and Lovin and 20 lines Facebook page

Follow along if you have time

I throw shoes on to feed the birds first thing in the morning if it is really cold barefoot the rest of the time.

So bird feeders full but JT has other things on her mind a little kick ball yes in snow while wearing Flip Flops that were a  gift  from Maryland,  lol100_2748

She is Black and White  and the Snow is White so  WHY NOT

100_2749

Another shot of JT playing on the icy mix in backyard with me kicking it and her pushing it back !

I love watching her play no matter how cold or warm it may be.

No not really a competition for photographers,  this day was all about the dogs but him with his BIG CAMERA, didn’t capture THIS FACE!  I was far away using zoom on a day it was pouring out too boot.  While waiting for my little girl to compete, in her very first Toss and Catch competition I filled in hours of waiting with taking photos of  the most expert of dogs doing their thing but JT won 1st and 4th on her two tries,  yes we were so proud of her and the patience she showed that day was amazing! She laid and watched all that went before her.  What a special dog she is but have you ever heard of a Border Collie who sits still,  lol we still smile at the very thought of that rainy day.

Take your dog out sun or rain they don’t mind honest,  they just want…

TRUCKING the last years

My Last Rig

It has been a very long time since I looked at this photo.  I used to miss this truck so much, then it was the girl  I was, who had gone missing.

Let me tell you some background since a few have asked about the days I spent behind the wheel of an 18 Wheeler(this one has 22 ) .

So much happened before I became a trucker, guess you would surmise that,  as young girls really did not drive tractor-trailer trucks  in the mid to late 70’s,  well not in New England especially.

So do I begin here with this time period in the photo or go from the start?

I think I will do this blog from just before  the time I bought her till I said goodbye,  as there really is an awful lot for this  story.

I was divorced in 1995  and as part of the…
