RUST

100_4911

On a cold day here in New England

The shoreline still calls out to us

Our trips here are usually never planned

We just know we must get out or sit at home and rust

JT is always ready for our trips to the shore

We never  have to tell her that is where we are going

She sees him get the metal detector out  and she goes right to the door

On this day she was sad no Frisbee with the way the winds were blowing

He swung his machine over the sand

He left a path of places he had dug and filled back in

Nothing ever seems to go as planned

With him though it usually ends with a grin

His collecting apron has many treasures within

Pull tabs, copper wire and piping and so many coins and rings

Want to know the reason for the grin

Well he is always happy when finding THINGS

So on a cold day with nasty raw winds gusting

JT and I walk into the wind defiant to let it ruin our day

I remind myself we could have been home rusting

So glad we went it was such a pretty day given the fact we stayed

“Beach Art” By JT

I know you have probably seen the shells that sit along the high tide mark but do you know about Border Collie Art?

She is so well-bred that she leaves an amazing piece of artwork, all along the beach,  as we make or way onto it

for a game of Frisbee.

Can you see her moves up above?

On and on she goes

Round and Round

Catching it

Dropping it at my feet and heading back out for another loop to get ready to catch it again.

I know some of you may tire of my talk about this pup but she really is what keeps us smiling day in and day out pain and all.

She is a beautiful artist,  well at least in our eyes.

Other dogs just come to PLAY she seems to have a method to her madness as do I.

You know I have a pretty dog. You know by now I have a cheap camera I take with me EVERYWHERE.

Remember the ocean and wave shots, seagulls too but we go for TREASURE and to prove we find it I want to share a photo of one box of items he has dug while I toss the Frisbee to JT I used to dig while he swung his machine.  I have my own machine and love doing it on a hot summer night leaving the cat and dog home and going out together.  The perfect date in fact a night by the cool sea, music in the background  from a live band a new one each night.

So lets take a peek shall we…

These Pine Cones may with the help of water and wind start a new TREE

Every thing in nature catches my eye

Even these cones

They were attached to a tree along a pathway leading to the Sea in Maine

It was winter

We took a long ride to get out for exercise

I took the camera and he the detector

No matter how many rings and things he finds

I still say I came home with the best treasures

My treasure hunter finds it.

I do some investigating to locate the owner.

We are able to see him put it back on his hand where it belongs!

Perfect ending.

His addiction and how it started, Part One

His addiction and how it started,  Part One

My boyfriend started over 20 years ago, on a hit and miss basis, searching for treasure.  His idea, of what treasure was, pretty much is the same but boy has his equipment changed. When he started out it was like me, you find things like change or other free things, in parking lots  and places where people gathered.  He bought a radio shack machine and when he had the time, would use it to see what else he could find.We found each other again after 30 years and he told me about this man George, George Streeter who had a cool shop in Keene.  He said he wanted to go for a ride with me someday, for me to meet him and for him to get a few things.  A few things! …
