digital misivs

 photo 20130423_122711.jpg

jacked on Marlboro’s and mocha java
she lives safely in her word cloud,
laying belly down with candy wrappers
littering the unkempt futon bed.

smartphone, notebook glowing
in that messy shades drawn room
and sometimes pink hair spilling
out a Neff cap covered eyes.

Skye, exists as ‘anonymous’
tattood and thin, small framed
her cool demeanor her paler skin
nothing touched her since he left.

and crossing paths in the gangway
with the new boy down the hall,
his immediate smile spoke volumes
he brushed against her as they talked.

but that spark its cruel reminder
of hurt she really can’t forget
her promise to call forgotten,
the spark was just suppressed.

Skye spent that night as every night
a private etherland of love
texting poems of lust her loneliness,
drift…digital misivs through the dark.

Solved!

I finally solved my problem. Yes, it took a long time, and I was getting frustrated along the way. What I found was that I’d not highlighted the entire code, and I had used an image widget rather than a text widget.

I might never change themes again!

Oh, undoubtedly I will, as I like change, but this has been a bit of a go.

Tech Help, Anyone?

I come again asking for tech help. Here’s what I need, and I hope someone can help me. I know I did this once, but for the life of me I can’t figure it out a second time.

I have just changed the theme on my Brainstorms blog (maggiemendus.wordpress.com). I have put the image for the 20 Lines badge in my sidebar, but I want readers to be able to click on it to be linked directly to 20 Lines.

I know that the URL has .jpg at the end, and that is undoubtedly why clicking on it now takes me to the image. I have tried leaving off the .jpg, but that doesn’t work. I just get a message on my sidebar that says to configure the widget settings.

I know there must be a way to grab the image from 20 Lines and put it on my sidebar as a widget. This is what I had before. I need it to be clickable so readers can be taken right to 20 Lines.

Can some of you techies out there help me? I’m hoping this is something simple.

Thank you in advance.

Back Online

All day yesterday and today I’ve been without the use of my computer. When I turned it on yesterday morning it went immediately to the “Logging Off” screen, then took up to two hours to shut down. I tried rebooting numerous times with no luck.

This afternoon I had asked my daughter to do some Christmas ordering online for me since I was unable to. A little while later I got a phone call from my 14 year-old grandson.

“Hey, Grandma, a little birdie told me that you’re having some computer problems.”

“Oh, that’s for sure. I’m going to take it in tomorrow for computer repair.”

“Well, I think I might be able to help you out, and save you some money.”

“Come on over. Grandpa will be right there to pick you up.”

“OK.”

Within 20 minutes he had it up and running again with what he said were a few very simple actions. I was so grateful. He knew what to do when I did not, and he had a couple suggestions for me to conserve the computer’s power.

I asked him whether he could now be my #1 tech support. With a smile he said, “Sure.”

So, thanks to B., I’m back in business. However, I will do some more writing in another day or two.

Glad to be back.

Techno-Progress

We’re making progress with our new Galaxy S3. It’s not so threatening anymore, and the apps I’ve installed are helpful. Tonight at our grandson’s track meet (he came in third in the mile) I grabbed a few pictures and even emailed them to a couple people. I voiced the text for the email.

Let me tell you how much fun I’m having. My husband is happy if he can just make and receive phone calls and access his voice mail. So far so good.

Smart…or Not so Smart?

The other night we bit the bullet and bought a smartphone, the Samsung Galaxy S3. Our son-in-law programmed a lot of things on it, connected it to our wireless, and thought we were set to go.

Yeah, right.

Last night my husband came home and announced, “I hate this thing! I want my old phone back.”

You should see his old (flip) phone. It’s a dinosaur. A real antique.

So I was patient, and tried to calm him down. My brother, on Skype, walked him through a few steps. Breathing easier now.

This morning he came home unexpectedly around 11.

“Where did the world go?”

Huh? Where did the world go? Has he lost his marbles?

“You know, that little thingy, the picture of the world.”

“Oh, you mean the icon (explaining icon now) for email.”

“I guess.”

Back to Best Buy he went this morning to “move the world” back to the homepage. I’m sure they had fun with him there. Just now I got a call from him saying he called another number but got me.

I’m sure these bugs will work their way out, but when you put an unwilling guy who isn’t at all tecchie together with a new smartphone, well, it’s kind of like oil and water.

Just sayin’.

Honeycomb

He knew there had to be a better way to kill, a faster way to disperse the enemy. He would have to find a way to produce a weapon that would not only be quicker to load, but that would allow more shots per load. It all revolved around technology. Everything revolved around making a better use of technology. If the enemy had to find the time to pour the powder, pack the wadding, place the cap, aim and fire each time, the simple remedy was a revolver. But how many bullets should it hold? Five? six? Would seven prove to  be too much? He thought of the shape of a honey comb-perfect.

Submission: Freedom Day

Instead of “Independence Day” we need a Freedom Day.
A Day of truth.
A Day of love.
A Day of pride in who we are.
Artificial fireworks will never replace
the Starlights that led our ancestors to freedomland, because these lights illuminate life.
Independence is a myth that separates BUT
Freedom liberates.

Thanks for playing please like , comment and share

Hourglass Love_unforgiven

Hourglass [21 Jun 2012|09:20pm]

love_unforgiven

Questions like an hourglass
Floating in outer space
Collecting intergalactic matter
Smearing them on her face
Tears like a river flowing
Gracing plush little cheeks
Flowing free for every reason
It would take a matter of weeks
Mascara smeared like butter
Across burnt wheat toast
Crispy and blackened
Upon the heart of a ghost
Elegance drifting like wood
The cresting open seas
Crashing on the shore lines
Where she sinks to her knees

electric eyes

electric eyes , they only see in darkness

when light shines , I feel with thought

rains come my eyes can’t focus

calm sky’s always what I sought

a moments sun drenches my being

then back to before , the way I was seeing

electric eyes they only see darkness

only to bring unwanted awareness

Our Happiness…

I look around as I walk in the sun

remembering many times we had  fun

there isn’t a cloud up in the sky

in a concerning  instant I wonder why

is there some reason for life’s quest

or is it for me to just try my best

I want one thing , to get over this mess

with you to enjoy , our own happiness
